Laura and Kerry

I photographed a great wedding earlier in December on the Kapiti Coast. Laura and Kerry both came out from the UK and we finally met in person a few days before the big day after months of emails. The day come about and the weather wasn't flash - translated into photo speak that means broody, stormy skies and some great light.

Hurricanes 2010

We're currently working on the 2010 Hurricanes Team Poster for the Super 14 with EyeQ Design and the Wellington Rugby Football Union. I thought it might be kind of interesting to show behind-the-scenes on a pretty typical commercial shoot. This video covers the first of two shoots with the players and a video to be posted in February will cover the entire process including pre-production, the shoots themselves and piecing it all together. If it looks pretty frantic, that's because it usually is.

An hour in the dark and cold

A couple of months back I was commissioned to shoot Carter Observatory in Wellington for Heritage Magazine. I wandered up the hill one night and shot a few 20-minute exposures to show the movement of the earth which shows in photos as blurred stars. As well as a few other stories I shot for the same issue, thankfully the time spent out in the dark and cold was worth it as the night image made the cover.

A bit camp

It's the caravan that just keeps on giving. The latest issue of Next magazine is out complete with a full page image of Ngaire - our 1955 Starliner bubble caravan. The photograph supplied through PhotoNewZealand [complete with a Jolly Caravan cushion] was shot at Porangahau Beach in Central Hawkes Bay last summer - a great free camping spot. Summer is on the way for sure.

Creative cover

We picked up our latest copy of Metro magazine this morning and it's got to have one of the most creative covers I think I've come across. Not quite scratch and sniff but pretty cool. Scratch each panel to reveal the winner in each category of 'Auckland's Best'. Nice.
